Favorite Eateries in England

I was just writing about UK myths the other day and found myself reminiscing (okay drooling) over memories of my favorite places to eat in England.  Here are just a few.

Afternoon Tea at The Ritz
(London)

I know, I know.  Cliche!!  But seriously, just imagine this : opulent decor, live pianist, miniature towers of endless miniature sandwiches and sugary confections, exotic hot teas, and only the most magnificent scone/clotted cream marriage you've ever encountered.  Treat yourself.

I hated scones until I had a real one at the Ritz.

The tea was out of this world. Back in the real world, I drink this lesser (but still amazing) tea.

(Camberley area)

It's a toss up.  'The Raj' as we like to call it, was our local curry house.  The Mogul was nearby too. Both are amazing hole-in-the-wall type places.  So good I stuff myself every time.  I felt like Veruca Cruz (blueberry girl) from Willy Wonka, so full you have to roll me out of the restaurant because I could burst at any moment.

As my hubby always says, 'You can't beat a good cuzza.'  So true.

(London)

I swear my husband must be getting so annoyed with me by now.  Every time we go back to England I make up some reason why I need to be at or around the Piccadilly Circus area during a day trip into the City.  Just so I can indulge in some cheap, fresh, authentic and very yummy Japanese.

The list goes on, but I'll stop there for now.  Just let it soak in like a warm naan in masala sauce. What and where are your favorite restaurants?

PS - If you feel like getting smashed after your tea at the Ritz, check out this fun tiki bar across the street where waiters speak like pirates, arrggh.
