Apparently, witnessing a giraffe drinking water is quite a rare thing. We won the safari lottery on our first day in Kruger National Park, South Africa. On the drive in to the safari lodge we witnessed first hand this incredibly awkward sight.
Yep, it's possible. Even at 18 feet tall.
Sadly we were not quick enough with our THREE cameras to capture this amazing moment (drinking photo courtesy of a royalty free site). I've heard that using a camera keeps your brain from recalling important details. Or maybe I'm just trying to reassure myself that I didn't miss capturing a once-in-a-lifetime-moment on camera. I digress. By the time we were done fumbling around we did capture him staring at us....almost as if to say, 'Welcome to my home.'
So began one of the most amazing trips of our lives. More about all that later though. :o)
