One of my favorite books and movies of all time is Seven Years in Tibet. It's the amazing (and true) story of Heinrich Harrer, an Austrian mountaineer. He tells a tale of friendship with the Dalai Lama, and his trials and tribulations scaling Mt. Everest in the 1940s/50's during the Chinese invasion of Tibet.
You should read it.
If you're not convinced, there's always the movie version which stars Brad Pitt.
Oh now you're interested!...
The Dalai Lama is a fascinating individual and Harrer's story sheds light on his life. His quote reminds me that no matter how well connected we are virtually, there are some things that can only be gained by seeing the world with our own eyes.
I can't wait for our next adventure some place we've never been. For us, that place will be the Florida Keys.
Where are you going this year that you've never been before?
