Hosting a Wine Party, Pinterest-Style

What happens when all those fun Pinterest ideas actually become reality? A snobby wine party but of course dahhhhling!

My friend Gibs has a knack for putting together fun parties. I'm glad we're friends because I'm that person who has major anxiety about having loads of people in my house. Gibs on the other hand, is the hostess with the mostest.

Her latest stroke of brilliance was a 'Snobby Wine Party' which she hosted over the weekend. Get your Pinterest button ready, you'll want to save these ideas for your next shindig. Pinterest button ready

Gibs had everyone bring 2 bottles of wine, one cheap and one expensive (there was a $20 cap on the 'expensive' wine to make sure no one had to break the bank!). We all brought cheese as well.

Each wine bottle label was covered up and numbered. The numbers correspond to a personalized scorecard where you describe and rate each wine that you sample.

Just in case you were lost for words...

Isn't Gibs brilliant?!

We chatted with old friends and made new friends while perusing the cheese and nibbles table.

At the end of the night we went down the list with everyone describing the wines and trying to guess their value. Each person had to call out their single favorite from the bunch of wines they tried.

Some of the descriptions were hilarious, and (not surprisingly) were progressively more amusing the more drinks we had sampled. Dignified descriptions suddenly gave way to more honest, gut reaction-type descriptors...'dirty diaper', 'grassy knoll', 'Hitler's mustache' (clearly not a favorite), 'bad hangover'.

This snobby wine party had turned into hilariously witty wine party.

Each wine was unveiled and the person who brought the wine with the highest votes won a prize. E (my better half) was the snobby wine winner! And as the old saying goes, what's yours is mine! Our prize was a pair of very decadent looking cupcakes.

We finished off the night with a little wine trivia. Boys vs. Girls, of course. I'm sure you can guess which team name the boys chose.

For a person who doesn't care much for wine, I completely enjoyed myself. A little too much it seems. I woke up with a raging headache the next morning. Turns out that those sugary cupcakes we won were actually a decent hangover cure.

What did you guys get up to this weekend?
