Fright Night

One chilly October night, 5 brave souls ventured into the depths of one of America's Scariest Haunted Houses. Ghosts, zombies, and chainsaws a plenty. Read on if you dare...

I've been to a fair few haunted houses over the years. This is the first one I've been to that has boldly claimed the title of one of 'the scariest'. Netherworld Haunted House opens their doors for a short two months each year.

The queue is always a bit long, but as we went on a weeknight, it was surprisingly quick. Regardless of the queue length, you've got plenty of creepies to keep you entertained while the group of you laugh nervously.  The actor's a impressively good at heightening your anxiety while you wait.

The line winds you through a maze of oddities and a downright creepy collection of...things.

As we enter the darkness (no cameras allowed at this point sadly), I'm feeling quite pleased with my strategy of bringing 3 guys with us so I can sandwich myself in the middle. As anyone who has gone to a haunted house knows, you really don't want to be first in the group. And you definitely don't want to be last.

From spinning tunnels, to flying zombies, feeling your way through dark spaces and pushing your way through a claustrophobic giant pillow room the terror builds throughout the 30 minute journey.

Thoroughly scared out of my wits we emerged only to be chased out of the parking lot by another group of zombies.

Was it the scariest haunted house in America? Quite possibly. I guess you'll just have to brave it yourself to decide or see what The Travel Channel and The Huffington Post had to say about it.

Have you ever braved a haunted house?
