Airboating in the Everglades

Ah, I can picture it now. The warm Florida sun shining on my face. Miles of beautiful scenery. A soft warm breeze...and a few bugs in my teeth. Nobody told me I needed to keep my mouth shut.

Let me back up a little bit. It was day one of our trip to the Florida Keys. E has always wanted to tour the Everglades aboard an infamous airboat so we thought we'd stop en route to the Keys.

For me a few things come to mind; 1) humidity, 2) bugs, and 3) alligators, and 4) Southern 'folk'.

But what is love without sacrifice? Okay so maybe it wasn't a huge sacrifice, and I'm quite pleased to report that it was not the miserable experience I had expected. It was actually really pleasant. Aside from the ridiculous amount of alligators.

We saw miles of this.

Found lilies in the strangest of places.

And turned catching an alligator on camera into a sport (a difficult one...those suckers are fast!).

Oh, almost forgot to mention. I made a few new friends on the way out.

See you later...alligators!
