Swimming with the Dolphins

So we're back from the Florida Keys. It was totally not what we had expected. Rather than a lengthy series of posts about our trip, I'll give you the highlights. Like the day we swam with the dolphins.

Seeing as the Keys has dolphin encounters just about everywhere, we figured this would be as good a time as any to give it a go. And a great excuse to give the new GoPro a trial run.

Well, sort of...

Let's just say I need a bit more practice.

The lovely people of Dolphin Cove are serious about Dolphin protection and preservation; one of the reasons we chose them over other options.

We weren't sure what to expect, but it far exceeded any expectations we could have thought up. We practically had the place to ourselves. There were 4 dolphins in the bay where we swam. They have a nice natural ocean environment built into an inlet.

We spent most of our time chillin with a lovable 9 ft. gent named Kimbit.

Handsome fellow don't you think?

Did I mention he loves kisses?

Preferably on these smackeroos.

^ This photo (and the one below) is from the GoPro. We quickly learned that the GoPro is best suited for fully submersed photos. The specialized lens tends to make everything look arched above water. Plus, you don't have all the adjustment options like aperture and zoom, etc. But more about that in the GoPro post I'm working on.

High five'n E.

Sad to say goodbye to our new friend, but we had an amazing time. Totally worth the time and money.

Definitely the highlight of our trip to the Keys.
