I've always wondered if a dinner on the beach would be as romantic as it seems in the movies.
We've had a lot of opportunities to dine with our toes in the sand but never have. Probably because of the exorbitant charges that come with the pleasure of sea-side dinning. I'm also a bit skeptical of the food quality since it has to be bussed out to the beach.
Our quaint little B&B by the ocean in the Keys offered us a beach dinner so reasonable we could hardly say no.
With a sunset like this...
and a dining companion like this...
does it really matter if the food is amazing?
One of the best things about a beach dinner is two-fold, the speed at which you are served (because you order in advance) and the ability to eat at whatever pace as you like.
We ordered the conch fritters to share. A Florida Key's specialty that my sister recommended. How can you go wrong with seafood battered and fried with a spicy dipping sauce? You can't really.
The Hogfish mains were a bit underwhelming.'
Even the birds buggered off by then.
Dessert was a gussied up chocolate cake which went down quite nicely. As chocolate cake always does!
Chilling out by the ocean, drinking and laughing with my main squeeze was the highlight of the night.
We sat at the edge and watched the boats drift by on the horizon. Perfect end to the day if you ask me.
Have you ever had dinner on the beach? Was is good or just okay?
