Trampolines, cake, and ale make for one unique date night. What you are about to view is of the utmost grace, style and adult behavior.
Well maybe not. But it was a load of fun.
Since the day a SkyZone trampoline park opened near us, E has been eager to give it a go. I, on the other hand, couldn't be bothered with such silly childish things. Oh no. You wouldn't catch me jumping around like a kid on a trampoline...
E has a knack for being right most of the time. It was damn good fun!
As EmberGrey pointed out recently, SkyZone is definitely not a 'kids only' kind of place. My fear of being the oldest person there was quickly banished when I found myself chatting with a guy eagerly looking for more participants to build an adult only dodge ball game in court 2.
Date night was off to a jumping good start.
After all of that bouncing malarchy, we started off toward a much more civilized location for lunch. Cakes & Ale.
If the name of the restaurant was any indication, I'd say we just found our restaurant match made in heaven. Cakes for me, Ales for E.
After browsing the menu and find not a single spongy, chocolaty item I asked the waiter in a panic, 'where are the cakes!'. Similiarly, after only finding 3 ales on the menu, E was just as panicked.
The waiter informed us that the title of the restaurant comes from a Shakspearean quote. Alas, we pondered thy menu with great disappointment.
That is until we realized just how amazing the food was. Starting with the ham and melon.
Followed by a vegetable quiche and salad. Out of this world good.
With a glass of champers of course.
E had the burger and smoky potatoes. Oh. My. God. Smoky potatoes are a heavenly thing. Crispy, smoky goodness.
I just had to steal a few.
Afterwards we had a wander around the very artsy surrounding area.
Some interesting works of....art?
We wandered upon a very traditional looking pub. E was peeking through the glass like a kid at a candy store. Yep, we're going in.
Once I got past the pong of what can only be described as dirty gym socks, it was actually a cool place. The closest thing to a traditional English pub that either of us had seen stateside.
A few drinks down and it was time to head home. Just in time. The rain started to fall.
