Getting Fit

I'm on a mission. Not to lose weight, fit into a pair of skinny jeans, or even to look better in a bikini. I just want to feel really physically fit.

Why is it that after a full on workout sesh you feel amazing, yet the you struggle to find the motivation to do it again the next day? Is it just me?

I can remember on our trip to South Africa, we visited Stellenboch (wine country) and decided to do a bike/wine tour. Sounds like fun right? Should be easy for a healthy 20-something right? Wrong!

I was huffing and puffing like an obese chain smoker on the first 'hill' we traversed. I struggled so badly that E had to ride along side me, steering his bike with one hand and pushing my bike with his other hand. It was really, really pathetic. It was right then that I realized, no matter how small your waist or how good you look in that swimsuit, what really matters is how you feel and how physically fit you are.

I had women half my age and twice my size whizzing past me.

Years later and one baby under my belt (with no plans for another thank you very much), I'm still striving to achieve a level of fitness that won't leave me huffing and puffing during the occasional bike ride.

After all, if I ever want to reach my goal of training for and climbing Kilimanjaro one day, I still have a way to go.

Kickboxing and Yoga have always been my exercise of choice. The only two things that keep my interest enough to work out on a regular basis. I figure those, plus lugging around a 34 lb. toddler, and chasing after him, should do the trick.

What do you do to stay fit?
