Creek-n-Awesome

I wish I could say that I feel relaxed and rejuvenated after a brief visit to the mountains. Really though, I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Then again, that could be interpreted as the result of a good weekend as well, no?

When a couple friends of ours invited us up to the mountains to stay in a rustic cabin by the river we were all but on the road before you could say "pass the s'mores".

Our friend M had booked a creekside cottage aptly named 'Creek-n-Awesome'. We love a good play on words; definitely the right place for us.

Although with a current like this, it was more of a river than a creek.

It was a mixed bag of adults, kids, and dogs in the great outdoors. Chewie even managed to make a few new friends.

With the +1s down for their naps we poured the drinks, kicked back and had a nice long chat with the 'creek' babbling in the background.

I've lost count on how many days I'm up to on the #100happydays challenge. Sadly (or not) my phone had ZERO coverage in the mountains, so I wasn't able to post this happy moment....

Or this one...

Fast forward to dinner time. M revved up the fireplace and we all met at the dinner table as our alter-egos for a Murder Mystery!

I was Beryl Sheep, a successful and wealthy stage actress from Europe. E (my husband for those of you new to the blog), played the part of Bristol Twin Bore, an aristocratic playboy. Interesting choice...

Most of us were too sloshed to keep up with the complex story, but hearing everyone put on their best accents and characters was plenty enough to make it a wildly entertaining evening.

One failed fire (damp wood), countless drinks, and numerous chin-wags later we stumbled into bed far too late to be considered sensible with toddlers who wake at the crack of dawn.

One seriously creek-n-awesome weekend. Thanks for the memories!

What did you guys get up to this past weekend?

x
