Family Style at Lydia's

I have no shame in admitting that one of my favorite things about going on 'vacation' is eating. I'm not sure that qualifies me as a 'foodie', but I looove a good meal especially when I don't have to clean up afterwards.

You really can't beat amazing company either. Nearly the whole family turned up for this gianormous Mother's Day feast at Lydia's Italian in Kansas City.

The bubbles were particularly bubbly. All the more fun to drink. Cheers!

I love a prix fixe menu that leaves me indecisive. So many good options. Good thing I can sneak a forkful off everyone else's plate to try them all.

Lydia's is one of those rare restaurants that pulls out the white linen service and still welcomes the +1s. The kids had gnocchi with meat sauce....it was deliciously messy.

The pasta was served up all hot and fresh by these fellas.

I went for the salmon. I know, I know...it's an Italian restaurant, I should have gone for the pasta. But it was the end of my trip and I had to save room for Mom's homemade strawberry rhubarb pie later.

Speaking of dessert, along came our family platter of finger bites.

Little Man's favorite part? The up close train encounter after brunch.

And yes, I totally had a dessert for dinner that night. I mean, who could turn down strawberry rhubarb straight from the garden?!

Lydia's was seriously one of the best family dining experiences I've had in recent memory.

Eccellente way to cap off my trip back to the big MO.
