The first time I flew in a helicopter. A beautiful, clear day over Capetown, South Africa that I will never forget, scattered with stories of deaths at Seal Island and injustice on Robbin Island.
The first awkward travel experience (and definitely not the last!). This photo was taken moments before being brutally beaten to a pulp by an 80 year old Czech woman with her shopping bag. Word to the wise, know how to say excuse me in the local language! You never know who you'll accidentally bump into.
The first time we went on an international beach holiday with a baby in tow to St. Lucia. Emotions ranging from extreme stress, to relaxation, to gratitude and every damn thing in between!
One of the many things I love about traveling and seeing the world is abundance of firsts. New experiences around every corner. Sights previously unseen, sounds previously unheard.
Even the most disastrous experiences end up making some of the best, fondest travel memories. All those bumps in the road really do make life more interesting.
The travel bug first bit me when I was 20. I haven't stopped traveling (or dreaming up my next adventures) ever since. There is a whole big world of firsts out there. I can't wait to keep racking them up.
What are some of your favorite 'firsts'?
