For the Love of... Mother's Day

To all the hard-working, order-keeping, love-giving, diaper-changing, and never-tiring Mothers out there. Thank you. For without you, none of us would be here today.

// A funny thing happened when I turned 21.

My Mom was replaced by another person. A friend. Not just any friend. The deepest, most profound type of confidante. By the time I reached 21 I began to respect my Mom in a way no child really can.

I won't even tell you what a nightmare of a teenager I was! Let's just say when I found out I was pregnant, I was hoping it was a boy...I didn't want a carbon copy of me at age 13. I don't wish that emotional mess on anyone!

// An eye-opening thing happened when I turned 29.

I had a child of my own and I now have a deep sense of gratitude for my Mom and an understanding that reveals itself in new ways almost daily.

I really believe there are certain emotional depths in life only found through parenthood. Once such emotion I've gained is a very healthy empathy and respect for all Mother's.

Motherhood and parenting is a role overflowing with the widest range of emotion imaginable. It is, in my opinion, the greatest responsibility in life and the most rewarding. I'm already learning new things from a guy who was born little more than a year ago!

I can go from covered in boogers and cursing one minute to the mushiest cuddliest mess the next minute. Extreme highs and lows that literally make me feel like I belong in the looney bin.

I am so grateful to have a Mom/Friend who is...

- wise
- intelligent
- beautiful
- kind-hearted
- insightful
- fun

...among many other things!

I'm thrilled to be spending the weekend with my Mom. What are you up to this fine Mother's Day weekend?

Don't forget to say a little thank you to all the Mom's out there. Even if you don't have the best relationship with yours, she birthed you, and that in itself is something to be grateful for.

x
